The trend for Scandinavian style has been going for a while, and when you search for Scandi style, it is easy to see why. Characterised by simple, clean lines with an emphasis on the outdoors that moves the look away from the starkness of minimalism and towards the cosiness and feeling of hygge, Scandinavian style translates to all areas throughout the home.

Like other styles, getting your furniture and soft furnishings right is key to Scandinavian interior design, but lighting is the finishing accessory that really sets the look to perfection. For every type of lighting that there is, there are styles that are ideal for homes that feature Scandi style.

The emphasis on the outdoors in Scandi style also applies to lighting, which of course means natural materials, with a heavy emphasis on lighter shades of wood. However, all natural materials are suitable, including darker woods like walnut, as well as metals such as copper and gold. Glass, linens and even concrete or feathers can suit the Scandi style, so don’t think your lighting has to be boring.

Although more natural shades tend to feature in Scandinavian style, that doesn’t mean boring beige tones – sunset reds and pinks, sunny yellows, and oceanic hues of blue and green are all appropriate. And don’t forget, Scandi styling is about choosing furniture and décor that makes you feel happy, so whichever colours you love, there are ways to bring them into your Scandi inspired home.

If you’re looking for a tougher look than the woods and simple styles, maritime inspired and nautical styles can work well – they’re designed to face the elements, and to last the harsh weather conditions. A more industrial lighting look is particularly great for outdoor lighting, and kitchen lights – and as you’d expect, there are a great deal of options in our range.

As you probably already know, lighting experts and designers recommend layering lighting, to allow you to create optimal lighting conditions for whatever activities you are doing in the room at any given time. Ceiling lights are of course essential, whether you choose flush fitting ones or pendants, but floor lamps and wall lights, table lamps and spotlights all contribute. Getting the right combination of great lighting means that you’ll be able to continue whatever you’re doing into the evening, or to snuggle in with your loved ones, lowering lighting levels to enjoy a movie with snacks and warming drinks.

Our range of lighting that can complement Scandinavian décor has been carefully curated by our team. Whether you’re looking for a simple tripod floor lamp, a ceiling fitting with a textured, decorative shade, or sleek task lighting such as wall lights or desk lamps, you’re sure to find what you’re looking for, and further inspiration too.
